I recently participated in the 2017 Nairobi Standard Chartered Marathon which took place on the 26th of November 2017, it was really exciting participating in the Nairobi Marathon. It was the 14th edition of the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon.
The Nairobi Standard Chartered Marathon is the flagship project for the ‘Seeing is Believing’ community initiative that aims to raise funds for the needy in the community. The 2016 event attracted over 22,000 participants from all walks of life.
The theme of the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon 2017 was #RunforaReason. As usually with most marathons, we ran the full length of the city of Nairobi (42KM) and the Nairobi Marathon is by far my most exciting Marathon so far; as I have already participated in Marathons in the following cities: Lagos, Cotonou and Accra.
Standard Chartered Bank Seeing is Believing
In Kenya, through the Bank’s largest sponsorship in Africa, the Standard Chartered Nairobi International Marathon, to date SCB have raised over one million dollars. Through the proceeds of the Nairobi Marathon and in partnership with Christian Blind Mission, CBM, SCB sponsored cataract, glaucoma and trauma related surgeries for needy children under the age of nine at five hospitals country wide. The initiative has helped restore sight to over 4,500 children in Kenya through the hospitals.
